The road to the Roman ruins in Ceasaria.

The aqueduct and the beach

My youngest describes the aqueduct for us.

Entering the national park in Ceasaria

Talking to my youngest at the old city of Ceasaria.(btw, this is what homeschooling "looks like" for those who wonder about such things)

Me being a smarta-- about the modern use of the ancient ampitheater. Also, I call the Mediterranean and "ocean". Yes, I always do that. I grew up next to the Pacific, and it's hard to see that much salt water and call it a "sea" instead of an "ocean". It's a cognitive jump my little brain just hasn't made.

The final video of the day. My phone battery was just about dead by this point. You can't see the roadies so well, but trust me, they were down there getting ready for a concert.

Three videos of my daughter and I having fun at the Azrieli Mall in Tel Aviv. Beautiful architecture, A couple of sculptures, and a waterfall in a parking lot. Then we go out to our bus stop.

Once again, I'm out on a Friday, so there aren't a lot of people or traffic. I say, I don't know why I'm always taking videos of empty malls on Fridays, but I do know. It's cuz I don't have any time to do these during the week when I'm at work. C'est la vie.

So, it wasn't bad enough that I'm way behind in posting videos to the site, I made a change to my server and didn't realize that I'd killed some of the sites that I'm hosting there. (Can you say, "That's why you gotta do QA, Lisha!!"?) We're back, now, and I'll get the site all up to date over this weekend. Really.
me: Doesn't this plum look like it's been waxed? coworker (laughing): Yeah. That's weird. It's shiny, isn't it? me: I didn't think that they waxed fruit in Israel. coworker (looking bewildered): Like they do in other places? me: Yeah, in America they wax the fruit you buy in most grocery stores. coworker: What for? me: You know, so it looks shiny. Like this. (holding out shiny plum) coworker: That's just barbaric! Americans are really strange, you know that?

Today at happy hour (our weekly Thusday afternoon "meeting" with drinks, sweets and a presentation) we watched and listened to Sanjay play the sitar.

So, I've been doing this streaming israel thing for a couple of weeks now, and I'm wondering what you, the viewing public think I ought to get videos of. The folks over at Seesmic said "street scenes" and "just general life" which is pretty much what I'm trying to give you. I keep the videos short, because I don't want them to turn into mega long boring things, but maybe I'm making them too short? I don't know, you tell me. Some things I'm planning: 1) Interviews. These will be unedited, raw footage just like the rest of the videos here.

Here are two videos, the first from Cafe Aroma in BSR2 in Bnei Brak, the second from Pinati just up the block. The first was taken at around 10am, the second at around 1PM.

Aroma is your basic international espresso bar.

As empty as the malls are on Friday afternoon, that's how full the get on Saturday night after dark. Here's the Big Mall (הקיניון הגדול) in Petach Tikvah on Saturday Night.

A stroll through the Ayalon Mall in Ramat Gan on Friday at about 6 PM. It's nearly deserted. All the shops are closed down for Shabbat, but upstairs, the movie theater and food court are open for business.

Alltop, all the cool kids (and me)
